Bayern Munich's Harry Kane sits on the bench before the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 First Leg soccer match between Atalanta Bergamo and FC Bayern Munich at New Balance Arena. Jan Woitas/dpa Harry Kane joined his team-mates on Monday in the final training session ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid. Kane missed the 3-2 Bundesliga win against Freiburg on Saturday due to ankle issues but is expected to be available for Tuesday's clash in Spain.

Other than Sven Ulreich (muscle tear), all the players were involved in the session, Bayern said. The two clubs last met in 2024 in the semi-finals, when Madrid prevailed in the tie. The Bavarians haven't beaten the Spanish giants since 2012.

"We haven't had much success against Real recently. We'd very much like to turn around the statistics from recent years," Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka said in an interview published at the weekend. "They're a world-class side with outstanding individual quality on the pitch.

They've had some very, very good – but also some bad – moments this season. At the moment, you never really know what you'll get from them," he added. Goretzka, however, is convinced that Bayern can still win "everything" this season as they are still bidding for trophies in the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Champions League.

"The right players are in the right place, with the right coach, at the right club. I'm absolutely convinced that we can win everything this year – even though I know how difficult that is. But we'll give it a try," he said.
