Jose Ramirez was supposed to be a utility infielder. For the first few years of his MLB career in Cleveland, Ramirez wasn't much of a hitter. There was no semblance of the player he has become.

These days, Ramirez is chasing down the title of being the greatest hitter in franchise history. And on Monday night for the Guardians, Ramirez is set to break a franchise record. The next time Ramirez takes the field -- presumably against the Royals on Monday -- he'll become the all-time games played leader for the Guardians.

It'll be his 1,620th game with Cleveland. Terry Turner held the previous record at 1,619. Most games played, Cleveland history: José Ramírez: 1,619 Terry Turner: 1,619 Nap Lajoie: 1,614 Ramírez is the only active player to currently lead a franchise in games played (including ties for lead) — Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) April 5, 2026 MORE: Jo Adell robbed 3 home runs in the same game If Ramirez stays healthy, he'll likely end up the franchise's all-time leader in hits, total bases, home runs, RBI and runs scored.
