Bears sweep Bearkats with run-rule victory

Yahoo Sports

SPRINGFIELD–For the second game in-a-row, Missouri State run-ruled Sam Houston State and earned its second sweep of a Conference USA opponent this spring. The Bears blanked the Bearkats, 12-0, in 7 innings, as Jascon Schaaf earned his first victory of the season in a complete game shutout. Unlike Saturday, when MO State clubbed four home runs in their 15-5 win, Sunday’s offensive outburst did not require a single long ball.

MSU drove in 7 of its dozen runs via singles, and Curry Sutherland’s 2-run double in the 4th was the only extra base hit to plate at least one run. Missouri State is now on a 4-game winning streak, thanks to scoring at least 12 runs or more in three of the team’s last four games. Sunday’s win also extended MSU’s home record to 15-0 this season, which is a program record.

MSU will travel to Columbia, on Tuesday, to face in-state rival, Mizzou. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
