Tyrese Maxey talks former Sixers coach Doc Rivers making Hall of Fame

PHILADELPHIA -- Doc Rivers coached the Philadelphia 76ers for three seasons as he garnered a 154-82 record across three seasons including two 50-win seasons and a 49-win season in 2021 when he led the franchise to the No. 1 seed. Unfortunately, the Sixers were eliminated in the East semifinals in all three seasons and it led to Rivers being fired in 2023.

Now the coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Rivers has been coaching for 27 seasons now. He won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and has had a ton of success in his coaching career which has led to him being included in the Hall of Fame class of 2026. Sixers star Tyrese Maxey was coached by Rivers in his first three seasons before he was let go, and he still has a strong relationship with the Rivers family.

He gave his thoughts on Rivers being named to the Hall of Fame on Saturday. "Congrats, Doc, man! " Maxey said.

"I'm happy for you, man. I appreciate everything you did for me. The entire Rivers family is like my family now.
