McCarthy's time with the franchise as the starter is over. Murray comes in with more to offer, at least right now, and the Vikings are going to give him every chance to win the job as the roster is built to win now. So, the writing is on the wall for McCarthy if he can't beat out Murray for the starting job.
However, not everyone is so sure that McCarthy will lose his seat as the starter. His former teammate at Michigan, Blake Corum, now with the Los Angeles Rams , has full faith in J. J.
