LSU baseball freshman catcher Omar Serna Jr. exited game against Tennessee following scary collision at home plate Sunday afternoon.
LSU baseball freshman catcher Omar Serna Jr. exited the game at Tennessee on Easter Sunday after a scary collision on a throw to home plate. After Jake Brown caught a shallow fly ball from Henry Ford in foul territory in the right field, the LSU junior rightfielder tried to throw out Volunteer base runner Garrett Wright, who was tagging up, at home.
The throw forced Serna up the third base line and Wright collided with him on the play en route to scoring. Serna lied motionless on the field for a few seconds before lifting himself up to his hands and knees as LSU trainers and head coach Jay Johnson came out to check on him. After evaluating him on the field for a couple of minutes, Serna was pulled from the game.
