Nate Oats and Alabama basketball have agreed to a contract extension that will make him one of the five highest-paid coaches in the country.

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program has signed head coach Nate Oats to a contract extension, athletic director Greg Byrne announced on Sunday . Details for the new contract have not been announced, but his previous deal ran through March 2030. โ€œNate Oats has signed a new contract that will make him one of the top five compensated menโ€™s basketball coaches in the country,โ€ Byrne said.

โ€œAppropriate members of The Board of Trustees have been notified of the proposed terms of the new agreement and it will soon be formally approved through the Board process. โ€ Oats has spent seven seasons with the Crimson Tide and has elevated them to one of the best programs in the country. He has gone 170-73 and won two SEC regular-season and tournament titles.

They have made the NCAA Tournament six times in a row, advancing to the Final Four once, Elite Eight twice, and the Sweet 16 five times. It is tied for their most consecutive trips to the tournament in program history and their only Final Four appearance. The Crimson Tide went 25-10 during the 2025-26 season, losing to the Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet 16.
