Taylor Decker feels 'kinda dirty' about joining Bears, Packers

Yahoo Sports

Though Ben Johnson reached out when he was released, Taylor Decker reportedly isn't interested in joining either the Bears or Packers.

Even though his Detroit Lions release wound up a little messy , reports indicate that former Lions offensive tackle Taylor Decker isn't interested in joining one of Detroit's NFC North rivals. In an exclusive sit-down with Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network, Decker touched on his frustrations that several key Lions figures didn't reach out to thank him for his time in the Motor City following his release. Lions head coach Dan Campbell said last week at the NFL's annual league meetings that Detroit appreciated everything Decker did and that he would call in the future.

Despite any potential lingering iciness, Decker doesn't want to tarnish his Lions legacy by playing for either the Bears or Packers . “He wants to play for a winner (but) he’s kinda thinking about, ‘Is it cheap to win somewhere else after you’ve invested all your energy emotionally and physically into one franchise? ’ "I will tell you that he’s pretty anti-playing for the Bears and Packers.

That’s the Lions background. I know Ben Johnson did it and that was the right situation for him, but Taylor feels kinda dirty about the idea. It just isn’t interesting to him," Rogers said of Decker .

A 10-year franchise left tackle in Detroit, Decker's future had been in limbo since the end of last season. Ultimately, even after announcing his intentions to return , Decker wound up requesting his release and the Lions cut ties.
