Over the course of his MMA career, Prochazka has become famous for his unique approach to MMA, not just in how he views the sport , but also in how he trains. Prochazka regularly engages in unorthodox training methods, from trekking into the mountains alone to swimming 30 meters under a frozen lake . Speaking with the Dan LeBatard Show on Thursday, the former UFC light heavyweight champion explained why he does these things.

“Crazy for who? ” Prochazka said when asked about his training methods. “Maybe crazy for somebody who doesn’t know that.

… “Every high-level athlete, the sport on the top level is not so healthy, not so usual, not so normal. That’s why we have to be a little bit above the normal line. And I like to go through these levels, which is behind normal.
