Seattle Mariners Minor League Pitcher Accomplishes Incredible Feat on Saturday
A lot of the attention is on Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan, but there's something to be said for longevity.
When you talk about the Seattle Mariners and minor league pitchers, a lot of the attention deservedly goes to Ryan Sloan and Kade Anderson. Two of the top pitching prospects in baseball are both at Double-A Arkansas at the start of this season and both are knocking on the door of big-league promotions, possibly as early as this summer. But while their talents are tantalizing, M's fans shouldn't ignore another pitcher in the minor leagues: 38-year-old Casey Lawrence.
The veteran right-hander is pitching at Triple-A Tacoma right now, and he put together a fantastic accomplishment on Saturday. Per the Rainiers on social media: With this strikeout, Casey Lawrence now has 1,216 minor league strikeouts in his career. Since his professional debut in 2010, no pitcher has recorded more minor league strikeouts than Casey Lawrence.
