Sixers star Paul George gives update after playing in 1st back-to-back
Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George gives an update on his health after playing in his first back-to-back of the season.
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers saw Paul George have a bit of a breakthrough on Saturday when he was able to play in both ends of a back-to-back for the first time all season. The 9-time All-Star was being limited due to arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, but the Sixers were able to let him go in both ends over the weekend. George played 38 minutes in Friday's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and then played 28 in Saturday's loss to the Detroit Pistons.
He scored 23 points against the Wolves and then added 20 against the Pistons as he was able to give the Sixers some production in both games. After the loss to the Pistons, George gave an update on himself as he and the Sixers now move forward. "I feel pretty good," he said.
"I took a shot early when Jalen Duren dunked. I got kneed in my side and that was talking to me for the rest of the game, but other than that, I feel pretty good. " It was a tale of two halves for George as he had 18 points on 6-for-7 shooting in the first half and then two points on 1-for-7 shooting after halftime.
It was a bit of a struggle for him down the stretch, but that can also be attributed to a stout Pistons defense that ranks second in the league in defensive rating. As the Sixers move forward, one has to wonder if they are thinking about getting ready for the Pistons as a possible opponent in Round 1 of the playoffs. "I think weโre trying to get in," said George.
