It was pretty much the perfect afternoon with a rare clean sheet and seven different goal scorers, to end a run of four consecutive defeats. Liam Rosenior on Ryan Kavuma McQueen debut Rosenior named a strong line-up with Cole Palmer captaining the side, and the Blues had the game wrapped up at half time as they raced into a 3-0 lead. With the game put to bed, it was the perfect opportunity to hand exciting teenager Kavuma-McQueen his debut.

Rosenior has already handed Jesse Derry his debut in this season’s competition, and now it was the turn of another academy graduate. Kavuma McQueen signed his first professional contract earlier this year, and the 17-year-old is one of the standout talents in the academy with 11 goals in 23 appearances for the youth teams this season. The youngster replaced Romeo Lavia in the 78th minute, and Rosenior admitted afterwards he was delighted to see him make his debut.

“I was so happy for Ryan,” he told his post match press conference. “I had the pleasure of watching him in the FA Youth Cup game maybe six weeks ago. I know a lot about the academy.
