49ers reportedly interested in freakishly athletic draft prospect

The 49ers have invested a bit in their defensive line room over the last year, but an underrated 2026 NFL draft prospect could be a perfect fit.

After using picks in the first and fourth rounds of the 2025 NFL draft on Alfred Collins and C. J. West, respectively, and trading for Osa Odighizuwa from the Dallas Cowboys, the San Francisco 49ers have invested significantly in their defensive line room over the last year.

While the 49ers only have six selections in the 2026 NFL draft, they could move around and collect more picks, especially later on Day 3, where they could take another defensive lineman. One defensive line prospect that the 49ers have reportedly shown interest in is Uar Bernard, according to Ryan Fowler . Bernard is from Nigeria and first got involved in football in 2024 as part of the NFL Nigeria camp.

He joined the International Player Pathway in 2025 and participated in the IPP Pro Day this year. At 6-foot-4 and 306 pounds, Bernard ran a 4. 63 40-yard dash and recorded a 39-inch vertical jump and 130-inch broad jump.

It's that performance that landed him on the radar across the NFL. With no real football experience, Bernard is still considered a potential Day-3 pick. If San Francisco were to move down and pick up more selections late, the 49ers may be willing to take a flyer on the defensive lineman.
