Rhett Lowder Just Proved Cincinnati Reds Made Right Decision
Lowder impressed on Saturday in the Reds' win over the Rangers.
The Cincinnati Reds ย earned a competitive 2-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Cincinnati's lineup has yet to consistently find success this year, but the pitching is keeping them in games. 24-year-old Rhett Lowder started Saturday's contest, and it is safe to say he pitched well.
Lowder and Rangers starter Kumar Rocker were engaged in a pitcher's duel. Rocker ultimately lasted five innings and surrendered two runs. Lowder, meanwhile, turned in six shutout innings while striking out four hitters in a winning effort.
The bullpen followed Lowder with three shutout innings. Heading into spring training, there were no guarantees that Lowder would even make the big league roster. Now the idea of Lowder not being on the roster seems unrealistic.
He is clearly ready for the MLB level. Lowder only allowed three total hits on Saturday. The Rangers feature a number of talented hitters in their lineup.
