Brewers Split Doubleheader With Royals

Garrett Mitchell was the star of the game for the Milwaukee Brewers as they secured a 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals in Game One of a Saturday doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The Royals, though, found their hitting stroke and took the nightcap 8-2. Back to Mitchell's big game.

Mitchell was the spark that the Brewers needed in the opener, piling up five RBIs on a two-run double in the first inning and a three-run home run in the third inning. His one-man hitting show ended up being just enough for the Brewers to pull out that victory. Brewers starting pitcher Chad Patrick was incredible, too, going five scoreless innings against a pretty stout Royals lineup.

Patrick's ERA is now at an incredible 0. 96 early in the 2026 MLB regular season. Mitchell had to deal with a lot of injuries last season.

So, getting a chance to get back on the field and contribute to Milwaukee's goals this season means a lot to him. Brewers manager Pat Murphy gave a lot of credit to the team's front office when it came to Mitchell. Garrett Mitchell is just dominating today → https://t.
