Switchbacks surge in second half to draw against Lexington S.C.
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Switchbacks found themselves down once again before finding a goal to earn a 1-1 draw against Lexington S. C. on Saturday to bring their season total to five points through five matches.
After conceding a goal in the 11th minute, the Switchbacks steadied themselves defensivley and walked into halftime down just one goal. After the break, Colorado Springs turned the pressure up on offense. It showed earning ten corner kicks through the whole match.
It wasn’t until the 79th minute where the Switchbacks pressure prevailed. Jonas Fjeldberg was taken down in the box where a penalty kick was awared. Khori Bennett has been the man stepping up to the spot so far and he converted again to get the Switchbacks even.
The chances kept coming through stoppage time but two corner kicks did not lead to goals before the final whistle was blown. Now, the Switchbacks have a week off to rest before another two match week beginning with their Round of 32 matchup in the U. S.
