picked the best time to announce his college commitment. The five-star combo guard from Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif. ) was on the alternate broadcast with Michigan's Fab Five and dropped the news he would be coming to Ann Arbor.
McCoy turned down a majority of Power Four schools while making his final decision, including Duke, Arizona, BYU and Arkansas. He's rated as the 14th-best player in the nation, second overall for his position and third in the state of California for the 2026 recruiting class. This is a huge commitment for Michigan and Dusty May, who's currently linked as a possible replacement for Hubert Davis at UNC.
However, McCoy's commitment puts speculation about May jetting off for Chapel Hill to rest. It's clear that's likely not in the plan and exciting news for the future of the program. At 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, McCoy is fresh off an appearance in the McDonald's All American game in Phoenix.
