However, looking past the powerful duo at wide out, new head coach Mike McCarthy is strapped for wide receiver depth. It would not be surprising to see Pittsburgh use two of its 12 selections on the position, and ESPNโs Jordan Reid believes Alabama Crimson Tide leading receiver Germie Bernard would be the perfect fit in the Steel City. โHe isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and do the dirty work, epitomizing the qualities that Pittsburgh has prioritized in previous years at receiver,โ Reid wrote.
โBernard can align at multiple spots in formations to use his strong hands and display how he's an asset as a run blocker. โ Bernard is the consensus 55th overall rated prospect in this draft class. He sits at 43 overall on ESPNโs official big board, the 9th-highest-rated wide receiver in the class.
He profiles as a big, strong receiver who uses physicality and savvy to create space, rather than relying on elite athleticism, which he lacks. He is as experienced as they come, playing in 52 games over his collegiate career, including countless bowl appearances. Last year, his Crimson Tide went to the Rose Bowl.
