Is Juan Soto playing today? Mets announce Saturday lineup vs. Giants
Here's a look at the New York Mets' lineup for Saturday's game vs. San Francisco Giants.
SAN FRANCISCO — The Mets will play their first game without Juan Soto in the 2026 season on Saturday night in San Francisco. Soto, who exited in the first inning on Friday with right calf tightness, was not in the lineup for the three game of the series. He said he was dealing with a minor strain and considers himself day-to-day.
The Mets were able to overcome Soto's absence on Friday night in a 10-3 win, with Nolan McLean tossing five perfect innings before giving up one earned run. Francisco Alvarez homered twice to run his season total to three blasts. Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette each collected three hits in the victory.
With Soto absent, Carlos Mendoza was forced to reconfigure the lineup for Friday's 9:05 p. m. matchup with the Giants at Oracle Park, with Bo Bichette batting second and Jared Young replacing him in left field.
Clay Holmes will be looking to help the Mets capture their second straight win. Holmes enters his second start with a 1-0 record after holding the Cardinals to two earned runs on four hits and three walks in 5⅔ innings last Monday. Landen Roupp will make the start for the Giants after holding the Padres scoreless for six innings while striking out seven in a win last Monday.
