The Los Angeles Rams donโt exactly have an ideal situation behind quarterback Matthew Stafford, though we can say that about a lot of teams around the NFL. There's a reason why backups are backups in the NFL, but some teams are better suited than others. At the top of the list of teams that need to figure out the backup quarterback situation, the Rams are among them.
The question for the Rams is if they want to move on from decent draft capital to ensure they have an opportunity to land a decent backup, even if it's one they have to develop. Thomas Carelli of Sports Illustrated thinks bringing in Anthony Richardson could be a wise decision, but the deal would move on from a 2026 third-round pick and a fourth-round pick in 2027 if Richardson started more than nine games. โThe Rams roster Stetson Bennett as the team's only backup right now.
Is Bennett the answer? Surely not. He has dealt with off-field issues and has zero career NFL snaps.
