Lady Mustangs won state in 1995 and 1999, and this year they punched their ticket thanks to a late goal by junior Ellie Wood. " The two-time state champs celebrate and continue to honor the memory of former head coach Pres Holcomb, a former Kingwood girls head coach who passed away right at a year ago at the age of 44 due to stage 4 colon cancer. "Dedicating the season to him at the beginning," Junior goalkeeper Hazel Rutherford said. "You know, you want to win every game for him, but actually being able to win every single game for Coach Holcomb, I mean, it's the biggest thing, and I'm just so glad that I get to help honor his memory.
" The Kingwood Girls Soccer team carries a special inspiration going into this year's State Championship.
