Vegas needs some more star power.
Raiders linked to blockbuster trade for All-Pro after Kirk Cousins signing originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . The Las Vegas Raiders adding a player like Alvin Kamara sounds like something that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
However, after the Raiders went out and signed Kirk Cousins to a contract on Thursday morning, there's a chance that Las Vegas is looking to bring in veterans who can help this roster in the short term. Ryan Shea of Sports Illustrated recently proposed a trade that would do just that. The trade would move a fifth- and sixth-round pick from Vegas.
“The Raiders would make the trade for Alvin Kamara because he provides an immediate offensive upgrade for a team looking to build around new leadership and young talent. With Klint Kubiak taking over as head coach, the Raiders are likely looking to implement a dynamic offense that can support their potential first overall pick, Fernando Mendoza, and give him the weapons he needs to thrive. "Kamara’s dual-threat ability as both a runner and receiver would complement Mendoza and help diversify the Raiders’ attack, making the offense less predictable and more explosive.
” If the price really is just two mid-round picks, this is the kind of deal that makes too much sense to pass up. Kamara might not be at his best anymore, but he’s still very decent. The Raiders need to do a good job of putting as much talent as possible around Mendoza, as he's expected to be the quarterback of the future, and adding a player of Kamara's status would do just that.
