Oklahoma guard Zya Vann will play the rest of her college basketball career elsewhere.

The Oklahoma women's basketball team was hit with some bad news on Saturday as guard Zya Vann announced she would enter the transfer portal. Vann, an Edmond native who just finished her sophomore season, made the announcement on social media. She averaged 10.

4 points per game while starting all 34 games in which she played last season. "After a lot of hard conversations, prayer and consideration, I have decided to explore my options and enter the transfer portal," Vann wrote. "I am excited for the next chapter and honored for my journey as a Sooner.

" Vann arrived to Norman out of Bethany High School in the Class of 2024. She played in 34 games as a freshman, all off the bench, and averaged more than six points per game. She stepped into a starting role as a sophomore and helped OU to its second straight Sweet 16.

"On my first official visit, I put on a Sooners ' jersey and immediately knew I was staying home," she wrote. "There are no words to express my gratitude for the University of Oklahoma and coach Jennie for believing in me and affording me the opportunity to carry on my family's legacy and to grow on and off the court. " Vann's father Bryatt played at Oklahoma in 1992-93 under coach Billy Tubbs and her sister Skylar played for the Sooners and earned Sixth Player of the Year in 2023.
