DaYon Cooper commits to Florida State
Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles landed a commitment from a cornerback recruit today with DaYon Cooper announcing that he’s joining #Tribe27. Cooper is a 6-0, 180-pound athlete from South Pittsburgh High School in Tennessee. He’s considered a 3-star by the 247 Composite and the 535th-best player in the nation (36th-best athlete, 25th-best player in Tenn.
). FSU is recruiting him specifically at cornerback. Cooper also holds offers from the hometown Tennessee Volunteers and other programs such as Texas A&M, Arkansas, Louisville, Maryland, and Vanderbilt.
Cooper plays on both sides of the ball and was named the 2025 Tennessee Division 1A Mr. Football after a junior campaign in which he accumulated 1,252 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns. He also placed fifth at TSSAA Division 1-A state championship in the long jump as a 10th-grader.
The coaching staff loves his athleticism. Cooper has the ability to flip his hips and stick to his man in coverage and he can hold his own in 50-50 ball situations. This is a solid pickup at a position with a mediocre board.
I think Cooper can sneak into low 4-star territory with a strong senior campaign. View Link
