Nets' Day'Ron Sharpe reflects on year after season-ending thumb injury
Brooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe reflected on his career-best 2025-26 NBA season that was cut short by his season-ending left thumb surgery.
NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe unfortunately had his 2025-26 NBA season ended prematurely due to a left UCL (thumb) tear. Prior to his injury, Sharpe was having the best season of his career as Brooklyn's backup center but now, he's had the chance to reflect on this year as he heads into an offseason that could set him up for another strong campaign. "I’d say I feel like I could do better, but I think I had shown growth this season," Sharpe said prior to Friday's 141-107 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Sharpe has already discussed how his recovery from the thumb injury is going, but on Friday, he was able to go into detail about what this season means for him moving forward and what the main theme of the year was. "So it’s just all about showing growth and getting better overall," Sharpe continued. "From year one to now, I feel like this season was another year of growth, so I’m just trying to build off that and continue to show growth in my career.
