Topps returns to NFL with Drake Maye as Chrome Football cover athlete

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is the face of Topps’ return to the NFL trading card market as their 2025 Topps Chrome Football cover athlete.

Topps made their return to the NFL trading card sphere official on Friday with New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye featured as their newest cover athlete. According to Tennessee Titans beat reporter Jim Wyatt, Maye will be the cover athlete on the 2025 Topps Chrome Football trading-card set. Maye is joined by Titans quarterback Cam Ward as the two faces of the upcoming pack release.

The 2025 Chrome Football set is slated to be released on April 15. This is the first time that Topps has produced licensed NFL trading cards since 2016. The NFL finalized a deal with Fanatics, Topps’ parent company, to be its exclusive trading card licensee on Thursday.

Maye had an outstanding season in 2025. He finished as the AP NFL MVP runner-up to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford last season. Maye led the Patriots to the Super Bowl in 2026.

He also led the NFL in completion percentage in 2025 at 72 percent. The Chrome Football set will include rookie and popular veteran players. Collectors will be privileged to obtain autographs from players such as Buffalo Bills former MVP Josh Allen, 2025 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan, and New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart.
