NFL Closes Down Probe Of Rashee Rice, Finds No Reason To Discipline Chiefs Receiver
Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice was cleared to play by the NFL, but he still faces a domestic abuse lawsuit.
The NFL announced that it’s concluded it investigation of Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice after allegations of domestic abuse and a subsequent lawsuit against Rice, according to an ESPN story written by Nate Taylor. The conclusion of the investigation was that Rice “has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy” regarding allegations of domestic violence made by his former girlfriend, Decoda Jones. The allegations first surfaced back in January, as Jones posted photos on her Instagram account that showed bruises and wounds on multiple parts of her body, according to Taylor, and she added that the abuse had been going on for years.
The pair has two children. The lawsuit remains, however. Jones filed in February, alleging that Rice had assaulted her repeatedly during an 18-month span from 2023-2025, and she added that she was pregnant during many of those assaults.
She is seeking damages of more than $1 million, and Jones also alleges that Rice strangled her in December of 2023. According to the wording of the lawsuit, "Rice has grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit, and headbutted Ms. Jones, as well as hit her with inanimate objects.
” Rice released a statement in response through his attorney, Sean Lindsey, that read as follows: In response to the lawsuit, Lindsey released a statement: "On October 9th, 2025, well after the parties' relationship had ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a sworn Affidavit for Non-Prosecution that 'Mr. Rice and I had a verbal argument, but he did not punch me.
