Apr. 4—TRINITY — Year 2 for Bobby Meyer at West Morgan brought a lot of expectations. In year one, Meyer took over a boys basketball team that was fresh off a surprise run to the Elite Eight and went right back.
With the bulk of the roster back this year, including stars Landon Henderson and Keelan Murphy, expectations were the Rebels could improve on last year's 19-9 record. They did just that. Meyer, who has been named the Class 1A-4A Decatur Daily Boys Coach of the Year, led them to a 25-7 season and back to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive season.
West Morgan also won the Morgan County championship and the Class 4A, Area 13 championship. "We played at a high level the entire year, a level that we expect to play at," Meyer said. "We were disappointed because we felt like we were a Final Four team, and that was the one goal we didn't reach, but it was still a great year.
