Ex-Broncos wide receiver returns to familiar team

Yahoo Sports

Former Broncos wide receiver Trent Sherfield returned to the Bills.

Trent Sherfield is back on his feet. After the New England Patriots let his practice squad contract expire in February, Sherfield became a street free agent. Just over one month later, he joined the Buffalo Bills , a familiar team for the veteran receiver.

Sherfield previously played in Buffalo in 2023. The 30-year-old receiver signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Denver Broncos in 2025, but his tenure with the team was forgettable. Sherfield totaled three receptions for 21 yards and played 51% of the special teams snaps before being cut 10 games into the 2025 season.

Sherfield later said the team's decision to cut him was shocking . After a stint with the Arizona Cardinals , Sherfield finished the 2025 season on New England's practice squad. He has played for seven NFL teams in his career, totaling 89 receptions for 1,034 yards and six touchdowns in 124 career games.

Denver, meanwhile, is approaching the NFL draft with Courtland Sutton, Jaylen Waddle, Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Michael Bandy on the roster . Social : Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X ! Did you know : These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans .
