Doc Rivers on Giannis Antetokounmpo not playing: 'This is a grown man's game'
Q. Before the game, Giannis talked for the first time in a in a few weeks. [clears throat] One of the notable things was he said he's gone one-on-ones, he's practiced or at least got live runs.
And I guess what have you been told about where he's at and in terms of ableโฆ Doc Rivers: I've been told the same thing. The tough part about all this is I'm in the middle when I have nothing to do with it. Coaches don't decide any of this.
But, the problem with our league is the coaches are the ones sitting out front and we have to sit here and answer this stuff. And I think there are two sides to this. I will tell you that.
But, I don't want to get too involved in it. I talk to Giannis all the time about what he should be working on. I literally I stay right there in that that zone about things that I think he needs to add to his game and that's it.
I decided long ago that's not for me to get involved in the rest of this stuff. I don't like it though. I don't.
