49ers could make Brandon Aiyuk and Commanders wait for a while
Nothing is a given, but Brandon Aiyuk appears destined for the Commanders. However, the 49ers can make both sides wait for a while.

Standig conveyed how he spoke with Matt Barrows, who covers the 49ers with The Athletic . Standig said he sees it as virtually impossible that any other NFL team would give up a Day 3 draft selection only to have to take on Aiyuk's contract. But seeing Aiyuk obviously did not keep his end of the contract, the 49ers are eliminating 2026 guarantees and waiting it out to see if any team bites. "If he really wants to play with ( Washington Commanders QB ) Jayden Daniels that badly, it's just hard to imagine he would agree to go anywhere else, if he is going to take far less money," expressed Standig.
