The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing former New York Giants DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches to a one-year deal.
The New York Giants have parted ways with veteran defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , reports Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times . The Bucs added some experience and energy to their defensive line with Rakeem Nunez-Roches agreeing to a one-year deal. Nunez-Roches spent five seasons with the Bucs from 2018-22 and was part of their Super Bowl 55 championship team.
Nunez-Roches, a 32-year-old Belizean-born defensive end who also plays inside, spent the last three seasons with the Giants after signing a three-year, $12 million contract in 2023. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound lineman provided reliable interior depth and started all 15 games in 2024, posting 52 tackles and 2. 0 sacks.
In his final season with the team, he appeared in nine games, recording 23 tackles and 3. 0 sacks before being placed on injured reserve (IR) with ankle and toe injuries. Before joining the Giants, Nunez-Roches enjoyed a productive five-year stint with the Buccaneers from 2018 to 2022, including a key role on their Super Bowl LV championship team in 2020.
He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015 out of Southern Mississippi. Overall, Nunez-Roches appeared in 142 career games with 62 starts, tallying 233 tackles and 9. 0 sacks.
