Opening Day for Visalia Rawhide at Valley Strong Ballpark
Minor League Baseball returns Friday night to the Valley! The Visalia Rawhide will take on the Fresno Grizzlies for Opening Day.
Visalia Rawhide players and coaches were set to take the field for Opening Day Friday night at Valley Strong Ballpark, with first pitch against the Fresno Grizzlies scheduled a little more than a half hour after a live report from the stadium. The Rawhide arrived Wednesday following spring training, marking their first time together on the field this season. Players and coaches said Opening Day brings a different level of energy.
Emotions are also running higher this season because a trophy is on the line between Fresno and Visalia, creating a season long rivalry. Garner said the chase is something he has not seen in his more than 40 years in baseball. Off the field, Visalia players are also adjusting to brand-new facilities, including a new clubhouse, gym and batting cages.
The team is also unveiling an alternate identity as the Sir Loins, with merchandise already available ahead of an April 17 game.
