South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley wasn't messing around after her tense exchange with UConn coach Geno Auriemma during Friday night's Final Four Gamecocks victory in Phoenix . The best way to sum all of this up is Auriemma sparked a heated exchang e with Staley right before the final buzzer over an alleged missed pregame handshake that happened after, we kid you not, another completed pregame handshake . As ridiculous as that sounds, this is unfortunately the biggest story to come out of the 2026 women's NCAA tournament so far.
Mics caught Staley issue a frustrated jab at Auriemma after the tense encounter went down. "I will beat Geno's ass! " a furious Staley exclaimed as she heads back to the South Carolina sideline.
