On3 predicts that Texas A&M will have $8 million or more to spend this offseason once the transfer portal officially opens.

Texas A&M basketball coach Bucky McMillan is considered a rising star in the coaching ranks after his first season at the helm, leading the Aggies with a 22-12 final record, including the program's fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed, ending in a second-round loss to 2-seed Houston after defeating Saint Mary's in the first round. After being forced to completely rebuild the 2025-2026 roster through the transfer portal after inheriting just one player, McMillan now enters the offseason ahead of schedule, slated to return three key players, including former Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako , who missed all but a handful of games last season. Needing more size in the front court and a reliable scoring guard, star forward Rashaun Agee has departed after leading the Aggies in scoring and rebounds during his one season in College Station, and a host of elite players have entered their names in the portal, which will officially open on Tuesday, April 7.

Now, in terms of Texas A&M's ability to spend the money necessary to land top transfer talent, today's NIL landscape is still considered chaotic, but due collectives, most SEC programs will be able to take advantage of the current roles, as On3 insider Pete Nakos has released his prediction regarding how much the Aggies will be able to spend once the portal officialy opens. After listing every blue-blood program in the $10 million spending tier, Nakos placed Texas A&M in the second Tier at $8 million, which is quite surprising given where the program once stood among Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, etc. "Louisville, Texas A&M, Iowa, St.

Louis, Providence and BYU make up the next tier of top spenders, all expected to spend over $8 million and can touch $10 million if they want. Other top spenders of note will likely be Virginia and Washington, among others. Alabama was in the $8 to $10 million range this season, and the Crimson Tide are expected to have similar funding available.

They will be able to crack into the next tier if they need to, sources said. " While some in the Texas A&M media world, including TexAgs basketball analyst Luke Evangelist , disagree with Nako's predicted number, Bucky McMillan and his staff deserve all the credit for re-establishing the Aggies as a consistent contender with an extremely bright future.
