On Friday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays took on the Chicago White Sox for their first road match of the season, following their opening two series back at the Rogers Centre.

Despite trailing the White Sox, 1-3 after the third inning, the Blue Jays would mount a comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning, on the back of an Andres Gimenez home run that plinked off the foul pole in right field. This would put the game on course to go into extra innings, which was when Toronto faced a new challenge, as Alejandro Kirk was taken off the field after his left hand was hit by a foul ball. Kirk ended the afternoon going one for four from the batter’s box with an RBI to his name.

This would almost immediately impact Toronto, as in the same half inning, Kirk’s replacement, Tyler Heineman, threw a bouncing ball to first that got passed Vladimir Guerrero Jr, allowing Chicago to tie the game 4-4. The White Sox would walk it off due to a Tristan Peters’ single. What’s the latest on Kirk’s injury?

Given that Kirk went into the locker room in the same half inning that the game wrapped up, there wasn’t much more information available during the media interviews. However, according to Hazel Mae, the Mexican catcher is slated to receive X-rays. Alejandro Kirk (thumb) going for X-rays..
