Standout TE fits Patriots' scheme as ideal draft target at No. 31

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq has the foundation to be the Patriots’ next dynamic offensive weapon at the position in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Kenyon Sadiq is not your everyday prototypical tight end. Sadiq meets certain benchmarks as a pass-catching tight end that offer much promise at the position. The 21-year-old shows deftness at making a variety of catches.

He’s shown that he is skilled at diving, as well as extending for catches, and coming away with the ball in double coverage. Sadiq went for 560 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. Recent pre-draft projections have the Idaho native as a mid-to-late first round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The relatively unpredictable nature of the draft on a yearly basis has the potential to put Sadiq within range for the New England Patriots to select with the No. 31 overall pick this year. The Patriots ’ offense is in line to see more action from slot receiver DeMario Douglas next season.

Douglas, as well as tight end Hunter Henry will be readily available for Drake Maye to look to in short yardage, as well as the intermediate next season, though both are also capable of making catches beyond 20 yards out. However, Sadiq has the makings of a tight end that has another gear that he has the potential to reach in the NFL. It’s perhaps too soon to tout him as the next Travis Kelce or George Kittle — the standard-setters at the tight end position in the NFL over the last decade.
