First Day: April 20 OTA Offseason Workouts: May 27-29, June 2-4 Mandatory Minicamp: June 9-11 Chicago’s rookie minicamp will be held following the NFL Draft on either the first or the second weekend of May. In addition, each club may conduct a seven week rookie football development program that can begin on May 11.
Phase One of the offseason workout program lasts two weeks, with all activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation. The next three weeks are Phase Two, and the players are allowed on-field workouts, but no live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are allowed.
They can only perform individual or group instruction and drills, “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, but only at a walk-through pace. Phase Three is the final four weeks of the offseason workout program, and clubs are allowed a total of 10 days of organized team activities (OTAs). Again, no live contact is permitted, but teams can now practice 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills.
