Last weekend’s UFC Seattle event, which many are calling the best card of the year so far, saw a few departures that have people talking. Michael Chiesa chose to retire on a high note, stepping away after four consecutive wins and doing it in front of his home crowd.
Niko Price, despite not being thrilled with how things ended for him, at least had clarity about his situation — something Bruna didn’t seem to have when it came to her own exit. Bruna Brasil went 3-5 inside the Octagon, including a win over Molly McCann, before back-to-back defeats spelled the end of her run with the promotion.
The news apparently didn’t reach her through official channels. Instead, she found out through a comment on one of her Instagram posts, replying with “Really? ” when told about the release.
Brasil had just fought less than a week earlier, dropping a unanimous decision to Alexia Thainara — a fighter she had beaten back in 2019. The 32-year-old member of Fighting Nerds now holds an 11-7-1 record. She earned her UFC contract with a head-kick finish on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022.
