FSU basketball loses fourth player to transfer portal
Alier Maluk becomes the latest departure, following Cam Miles, Martin Somerville, and Shan Muhammad, as roster overhaul accelerates under Luke Loucks
The Florida State men's basketball roster is continuing to thin out this week. Sophomore forward Alier Maluk plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to a report from Noles247 , becoming the fourth Seminole in as many days to announce his intention to depart Tallahassee. The exodus comes as head coach Luke Loucks prepares to aggressively reshape his roster heading into Year 2.
The NCAA transfer portal does not officially open until April 7, the day after the 2026 National Championship, but players across the country are already making their offseason intentions known. The 6-foot-11, 220-pound Maluk spent two seasons with the Seminoles after signing out of Long Island Lutheran (N. Y.
), reclassifying to join FSU ahead of the 2024-25 season. He chose Florida State over a Power conference field that included Maryland, LSU, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Oregon. During the 2025-26 season, Maluk appeared in 22 games and made three starts, averaging just 6.
