Aston Villa Might Have To Pause Interest In This Barcelona Player: Do They Need Him?
Aston Villa Might Have To Pause Interest In This Barcelona Player: Do They Need Him? Spanish outlet AS reported this week that Aston Villa face a real fight if they want to sign Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde this summer. The paper points to the influence of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who manages the 22-year-old.
Apparently, Balde’s future is third on Mendes’ priority list at Camp Nou right now, following a busy year where Lamine Yamal’s contract took the spotlight. According to AS, Balde pops up in transfer rumours almost every summer, and this year is no different. Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Manchester United reportedly reached out about the defender back in late March.
Barcelona know a sale would bring in a huge windfall, with Transfermarkt valuing him at roughly £47 million. It is a massive profit for a homegrown talent. However, the report makes it clear that neither Deco nor Hansi Flick are forcing him out.
More importantly, the player himself isn’t looking to leave yet. While his contract runs until 2028, Barcelona need to make a call soon to avoid his value dipping as he nears his final years. Their public stance against selling often masks a silent willingness to listen to high offers.
