As the NBA's regular season nears its end, Wembanyama is having a stellar season, leading the league in blocked shots and helping push the Spurs toward their first playoff appearance since the 2018-19 season.

He has publicly made the case for himself as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2025-26 season. But his other ambitions include astronomy. What did Victor Wembanyama say about the Artemis II mission?

Wembanyama appeared in a NASA livestream alongside Hollywood stars like Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Gosling, among others, to wish the Artemis II astronauts well on their mission to the moon. NASA’s Artemis II mission launched on Wednesday from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. “Hey, I’m Victor Wembanyama, and I play basketball in the NBA,” he said.

“But I’m not only interested in shooting hoops. I’m also interested in shooting stars, dark matter, and all other types of astronomical phenomena. And to Artemis II astronauts who are shooting for the moon, I wish them good luck and Godspeed.
