The TCU Horned Frogs have signed Sonny Dykes to a contract extension. He is 36-17 as their head coach.

The TCU Horned Frogs have signed head coach Sonny Dykes to a contract extension, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The length or value of the deal has not been announced, but he was under contract through 2028, and his 2025 salary was just over $7 million, according to the USA TODAY Sports head coach salaries database. Dykes took over TCU ahead of the 2022 season and led them to the College Football Playoff and the national championship game in his first season.

They went 13-2 that year but went 5-7 the next season as they could ot recapture the magic that fueled the run. The Horned Frogs were able to turn things around after the rough season, going 9-4 in each of the past two seasons, winning back-to-back bowl games. They have gone 36-17 under Dykes and 23-13 in the Big 12.

Their 36 wins are the most in the Big 12 since he was hired. Dykes has a 107-80 record in 15 seasons as a head coach with stops at Louisiana Tech, Cal, and SMU before TCU. They have undergone some massive changes this offseason, with three-year starting quarterback Josh Hoover transferring to the Indiana Hoosiers and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles leaving to become South Carolina's offensive coordinator.

They are replacing Briles with Gordon Sammis, who spent the past four seasons with the UConn Huskies and helped transform their offense. They dipped into the transfer portal to replace Hoover, landing Harvard veteran Jaden Craig. Contact/Follow @College_Wire on X and @College_Wires on Threads.
