The Broncos' backup quarterback spot is up for grabs this summer.

The Denver Broncos will have a quarterback competition this summer. No, the Broncos aren't bringing in Aaron Rodgers to challenge Bo Nix. Instead, it's the backup quarterback spot that's up for grabs.

Speaking at the NFL's annual league meeting in Arizona earlier this week, Denver coach Sean Payton indicated Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger will compete for the second-string quarterback position this summer. “We see competition, and it wasn’t different last year," Payton said. "There’s nothing that is etched in stone.

There just isn’t, and that’s a good thing. ” From the outside, it appeared obvious that Stidham was the QB2 from spring through the playoffs with Ehlinger serving as QB3 last season. They apparently were competing last summer, too.

It is perhaps notable that there have been rumblings of the Broncos listening to trade offers for Stidham . If the Broncos end up trading Stidham, Ehlinger would land the QB2 job by default. But there's no guarantee that will happen.
