The Gamecocks (15-16) picked up just their second SEC win in 10 chances this season.

South Carolina scored five runs in the second inning on Texas starter Ruger Riojas and never looked back. Four of those runs were scored with two outs. It was 6-1 after three innings and 8-1 after six.

Texas mustered just two extra-base hits as junior Aidan Robbins hit his team-leading 11th home run of the season. The Longhorns had won four straight games and six of their last seven coming into Thursday. It was largest margin of defeat all season for Texas (24-5); three of their four previous losses had come by two runs or fewer.

The senior right-hander came into the game with a 13⅔-inning scoreless streak.
