No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse vs. Rutgers preview

Yahoo Sports

The Terps face their final unranked opponent after receiving a No. 1 ranking.

Despite facing one of the toughest slates in the nation, No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse has conquered every opponent on its way to its first No. 1 ranking since 2022.

The Terps are coming off six days of rest after a narrow 14-13 win over then-No. 21 Penn State. At 12-0, Maryland stands alone as the only undefeated team left in the nation with four games left on its schedule.

However, the Terps won’t have an easy ride to keep their undefeated record. Three of Maryland’s four remaining opponents currently sit in the top-25, only excluding Rutgers, which still received votes in the IWLCA Poll. The Scarlet Knights have won three in a row and return to the East Coast after an extended trip to California.

Maryland will face Rutgers on Saturday at 12 p. m, with senior night celebrations occurring after the game. The contest will take place in SECU Stadium and stream on Big Ten Plus.
