Tom Weller/dpa Former Germany coach Joachim Löw is reportedly on the verge of making a shocking comeback to take the coaching job at the Ghana national team.
According to the news portal Ghana Soccernet, Löw is close to accepting the position on a short-term deal focused on the 2026 World Cup this summer after the Ghana football federation parted ways with coach Otto Addo. Addo was dismissed on Tuesday after a 2-1 defeat to Germany in a World Cup tune-up game the day before. The report said that an official confirmation is expected in the coming weeks.
The portal cited "several sources" for their information but didn't name them. Löw coached Germany from 2006 to 2021, winning the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. Since his retirement after Euro 2020, he has rejected every job offer.
However, he recently told broadcaster Sky that if he were to take another job, it would be with a national team. "Given my experience, that would also be the best option for me," he said. The World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico starts on June 11.
