First Coast residents made it a clean sweep of the annual spring events at the Palatka Golf Club.

Lance LaCombe of Jacksonville capped a First Coast sweep of three divisions of the Azalea Amateur at the Palatka Golf Club. LaCombe defeated Drew Miller of East Lansing, Mich. , in a playoff to win the 69th Azalea Amateur on March 22, after both finished 54-holes of regulation at 3-under 207.

LaCombe won two weeks after two St. Augustine residents, Ambrose Kinnare and Sophia Cavanagh, won their division in the Junior Azalea. And Ambrose, a sophomore at Tocoi Creek, came close to sweeping both tournaments.

He tied for third in the Azalea with Jack Irons of Naples and Micah Sheffer of Brownstown, Ind. , one shot out of the playoff. Kinnare posted rounds of 68-68―136 to win the Junior Azalea by five shots over Jack Rossheim of Palm Coast.

Cavanagh, a Nease senior, shot 76-71―147 to win the girls division by two shots over Danielle Dailey of St. Augustine, a senior at St. Joseph Academy.
