Former PSV and Juventus winger Mohammed Ihattaren rediscovering himself at Fortuna Sittard
Former PSV and Juventus winger Mohammed Ihattaren rediscovering himself at Fortuna Sittard Mohammed Ihattaren is having a fantastic season with Fortuna Sittard. The Moroccan winger, who is still just 24-years-old, is having the best season of his career. Ihattaren appeared to have fallen away somewhat after bursting onto the scene as a teenager at PSV and earning a move to Juventus.
Yet, the move to Italy failed to get the best out of Ihattaren, and a return to the Eredivisie with Ajax was also unsuccessful. After accusations about his professionalism and off-pitch issues, it appears that the winger is once again enjoying his football this season. Last season, the winger ended up signing for RKC Waalwijk.
Ihattaren has been criticised in the past for his physical condition, which had been a main reason behind his failed move to Slavia Prague. Yet, at Waalwijk, he appeared to get back on track. Ihattaren played 27 games for the side, scoring four goals and grabbing four assists.
Sadly, he was unable to help the side avoid relegation from the Eredivisie. Yet the winger was able to remain in the top flight of Dutch football. Fortuna Sittard had seen enough from Ihattaren last year to convince them to bring him to the club.
So far, that move has paid off. The winger has scored six goals in 26 games, with 11 assists as well. He is closing in on his career best of seven goals in a single season, which came during his breakout campaign at PSV.
