The international break is almost over, but the ripples from the explosive comments made by Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella in their while on national team duty are still spreading.
Andy Dunn’s piece for the Daily Mirror today sums up just how bad this Chelsea project is looking right now. He notes that Fernandez has pushed for a move despite having a contract until 2032, “which makes you even more mystified by this whole BlueCo project. “It is turning a club that has always possessed a lovely bit of glamour and class into some sort of soulless financial institution.
” Chelsea can’t win on or off the field Yet, as he goes on to point out, this financial institution does not look like a very successful one. The club just announced the biggest financial loss in British football history, down £262. 4m for the year ending June 2025.
Dunn also notes that the Blues have topped the agent spending table for the third year in a row, almost doubling their neatest competition. And what do they have to show for all that spending? A team that is about to miss out on the Champions League places.
